what you need to know as a fresher

Are you aspiring to further your studies in The University? Or you are
already in one this information is for you It is a fact that you cannot accomplish
your Goal if you do not have one. And to be on the safe side you have to gather
necessary information about your goal and from the right source and at the right time.
Here are some tips you should know before pursuing any course in The University.





• Know your aim of going to school:
Let’s be honest, a lot of us are in school but we don’t know why we are in school.
May-be due to peer pressure, pressure from parent, our Believe some may even
aspire for that because everybody they meet tells them to do so. I want you to
take a moment and ask yourself these questions.
Why am I aspiring to attend higher an institution?
After my staying in the school what will I add to my knowledge that will
make me productive?

For instant , am Bassey , am through with secondary school and am planning to
attend an higher institution ,I love keeping pet (like Dog ,cat ETC).An I believe
that 60% of animal are going to be extinct in the nearest future. And to prevent
that from happening some measures are to be taken to prevent the existing once from
getting extinct( Now I have an aim) and for me to achieve that aim, there is a level of
education I need to attain to gather more information about this animals (Now I know what
I need in school). Now I know the necessary information I should gather before the end of
my staying in the university.
Now with this mindset life in school will be easy, since you know what you want
everything you will do in school will be channel towards that goal. Whether you are
informed about seminar on wildlife you will want to attend. Whether you are given
an assignment to raise some animal and preserved them you won’t feel boring since
is something you like doing.



• Early preparation :
Early preparation matters .know this there is a difference between knowing something
and been competent in it. To learn something new requires time but been competent
require quality time and this can be done by early preparation .I have provided the
course outline for the following department to help you prepare early;

• Don’t be too certain so you don’t get frustrated:
The world we live in is uncertain .you can say it will rain because the
cloud is dark or because it is a raining season and it does not rain.So
in everything after doing your part let God do his works by put what
so ever you want to do in prayers.



• Know you lecturer:
It’s dangerous the way people can get frustrated because of their outcome.
One of the reason is due to fail to ask questions about the lecturer
involve. Questions like;
Does he or she needs elaborate answers?
What topics does he emphasize mostly on?
You need to know this things.



• You should develop the habit of predicting questions as an achiever:
Don’t just read a textbook for reading sake, read to understand, pick out
possible questions from the text as well.


• Include you learn in what you find pleasure in doing:
You like chatting on Facebook find why don’t you create a group where like
mind like you are added and you ask questions concerning your lectures in
school. Or do you like listing to music why don’t you record your lectures
on your phone and listen to it as well.
